When does the warranty apply? |
When the vehicle: has an odometer reading of less than 160,000km on the day of its sale; and has a built date of no more than 10 years before the day of its sale. |
When the vehicle: has an odometer reading of 160,000km or more on the day of its sale; or has a built date of more than 10 years before the day of its sale. |

What is the length of coverage? |
After 3 months or the first 5,000km, whichever occurs first. |
After 1 month or the first 1,000km, whichever occurs first. |
A vehicle does not have a statutory warranty if it:
-
is a motorcycle, caravan or commercial vehicle (motorhomes do have statutory warranties);
-
is being sold on consignment for a private seller (not another licensee);
-
cannot be registered because of its design;
-
is on the ‘written-off’ register; or
-
is more than 20 years old and sold to be restored.
Grays sells the majority of vehicles on consignment and as such, Grays is not the owner of most vehicles sold on www.grays.com. A Queensland statutory warranty applies if the owner of the vehicle is a motor dealer or someone who sells goods by auction (e.g. a chattel auctioneer or auctioneer business).
