Appearance:

A vibrant garnet hue with slight bricking at the rim, showing some evolution with age. The wine is medium in depth, with a bright, clear appearance.

Nose:

The nose is expressive and elegant, offering a bouquet of red and black fruits—ripe cherry, raspberry, and blackberry. These are intertwined with savory aromas of dried herbs, leather, and a touch of forest floor. The oak influence adds subtle layers of spice—clove, anise—and a hint of vanilla. With age, secondary aromas like dried plum and a delicate earthiness have emerged, contributing complexity.

Palate:

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with bright, fresh acidity, a hallmark of Barbera. Juicy red fruits dominate, particularly cherry and cranberry, accompanied by blackberry and hints of dried fig. The acidity is lively, balancing the fruit sweetness and giving the wine a refreshing lift. Soft tannins create a smooth texture, while subtle oak notes of spice and a touch of cocoa add depth. Earthy and herbal undertones enhance the complexity, making this wine both vibrant and layered.

Finish:

The finish is clean and persistent, with a refreshing tartness and lingering notes of cherry, dried herbs, and a hint of spice. The acidity leaves the palate refreshed and wanting more, making it a versatile food-friendly wine.

Established in 1984 by the infamous restauranteur LeonMassoni and legendary winemaker Ian Homes, founder of Yellowglen. In 1996-2000with the assistance of the Ursini family, we established the GlenKara Estatevineyard in the Victorian Pyrenees Ranges, boasting the largest vineyard in theregion (269ha). In 2006, we purchased the Mt Eliza Estate vineyard (8.9ha) onthe Mornington Peninsula.

Currently, all wines are made at the Dromana winery. Massonispecializes in making wines that stand the test of time. With many of ourPyrenees wines being released with 2-3 years of bottle age.

Over the last 19 years, we have focused on making wines thatour clients want to enjoy with their family and friends.
