Wine Summary Image

Though the terroirs are very diverse, all the soils are a mix of clay and limestone. The vines are planted in a north-south axis with varying exposure to the sun and at varying altitudes. These factors all contribute to this wine’s aromatic complexity.

Every spring and autumn, Clos de Vougeot Chateau, the headquarters of the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Wine Tasting Cup, situated in the heart of the great vineyards, hosts this famous wine competition where the best wines of Burgundy are selected by more than 250 wine experts.

Created by the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Wine Tasting Cup, these Burgundy wine competitions in autumn and spring are In the grand Cistercian cellar of the Clos de Vougeot Chateau, a jury of more than 250 wine experts taste, blindfolded, 20 wines per table. The selected bottles carry the well-known label of the Wine Tasting Cup, which is a seal of approval for the consumer.

Winery Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

Refreshing nose with predominant aromas of red fruits such as sweet cherry, blackberry, and fresh juicy grapes.

Endowed with well-integrated tannins, this wine is harmonious.

Beautiful deep ruby red in colour on this value-buy Bourgogne. Clean aromas of cherry and gooseberry, with a palate of red fruit, spices, and kirsch. Non-existent tannins and medium acidity with a cranberry finish. Very drinkable. Great value for money. Paired with Peking duck. Terroirs have showcased the Burgundy’s Pinot Noir grape for centuries where it is synonymous with elegance and finesse. The grapes are sourced from plots throughout the region.

Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled vats at 28-30°C with punching of the cap before being aged for 8 to 12 months in oak barrels.

Food Pairing:

Easily paired with roasted or grilled meats, an assortment of deli meats, or mild cheeses. It goes very well with a spiced lamb stew, vegetable shepherd’s pie or beef carpaccio with parmesan curls. As for cheeses, serve this wine with creamy Neufchâtel or Chaource.
