Winery Tasting Notes

COLOUR

The appearance is solid mid red with mahogany hues on the edge. Still lively and youthful for a ten-year-old wine.

AROMA

The bouquet has lifted aromatic ethyl esters of dried rose petals, pot pourri, sandalwood and perfume. There’s brandy-soaked raisons and baked fruit cake behind the obvious earthy tones. It takes a little time in glass to open up but worth the wait after ten year’s maturation.

PALATE

The palate follows with raisons, dried figs, licorice spice and a hint of musk like confection. The mid palate is smooth and mellow with soft round tannins giving weight and supporting nice seasoned oak flavours. It’s sophisticated and refined but most importantly it’s a great drinking, delicious Shiraz with morish aftertaste ideal for any occasion.

FOOD MATCHING

Like many mature Shiraz, this wine is well suited to Mediterranean cuisine, smoked meats, spicy salami and rich tomato-based pasta sauces. With spring and summer just around the corner it will be perfect with barbequed steak, lamb chops and beef patties.
