Winery Tasting Notes

Dark, plum red in colour. Ripe plum and cedar aromas combine with an inviting, exotic perfume of cinnamon and clove, blended with blue fruits. Bursting with plum, blackberry, briar and cedar flavours, the palate evolves into enticing savoury notes from the French oak. The lovely natural acidity combines well with the expressive fruit and tannins, keeping the wine enticing and structural.

Smith & Hooper wines are sourced entirely from two Wrattonbully estate vineyards - adjacent vineyard blocks previously owned by the Smith and Hooper families. These are premium red wines from exceptional vineyard sites where the winemaking philosophy is to let the terroir speak for itself - and it does. The elements of soil and climate at Smith & Hooper have transformed the noble varieties of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon into wines of finesse and distinction.
