Mac's Gold is brewed out of Nelson, previously an independent, but now bought out by Lion Nathan (if you can't beat them, buy them!) A great lager, and amazingly good on the morning after. Steinlager (North Island beer) is the complete opposite to Mac's Gold. Very hard to find here, but well worth the effort and the high price. Note: I'm an Australian who spent some time in NZ bowling under arm deliveries where ever possible. Steinlager was their revenge. Stick with Mac's Gold, a gem worth polishing off after a hard days cricket!

I first tried this beer in NZ, but on Tap rather than in stubbie bottles.. I did like this as well but not quite as much . Would i buy another slab ? Maybe, but there are just as good Aussie beers for the same price or less . Nice for a change though and something to talk about while burning some meat on the BBQ.
