Aromas and flavours of cherries and plums, there’s a light layer of clay earthiness then a tobacco and herb note. Crisp and dry with flavours on the palate led by plum with a mixed berry compote profile. Fine easy tannins and plenty of acidity. CamDouglas.com

Winery Tasting Notes

Bright crimson in colour. Aromas of rose petal and lavender with a hint of peppery spice, dark cherry, mulberries and dark plum. One taste and the wine draws you in with mulberry, dark cherry, wild berries and dark chocolate with a hint of cinnamon. A bright and juicy Tempranillo with smooth, lingering, cocoa powder tannins on the finish.

Family-owned and run by Robert Hill Smith, Yalumba has long had a commitment to quality and has shown great vision in its selection of vineyard sites, new varieties and brands. It has always been a serious player at the top end of full-bodied (and full-blooded) Australian reds, and was the pioneer in the use of screwcaps. While its estate vineyards are largely planted to mainstream varieties, it has taken marketing ownership of viognier. However, these days its own brands revolve around the Y Series and a number of stand-alone brands across the length and breadth of SA. Yalumba has been very successful in building its export base. Exports to all major markets.
